THE PLUMBER, SF, ca. 1990-1992
Ah, The Plumber. This is the band that broke my heart, and the reason I'm such a bitch about bands in general. I mean, I know and I knew even before all of it happened that there's no future in bands, but somehow I suspended my disbelief in this case; maybe that was because this band represented to me the culmination of many years of striving for a certain kind of situation- one in which uniquely talented humans with complimentary outlooks dared democratically to make pertinent art, and succeeded at it in spite of what the rest of the world thought. After three years in the crucible, the others opted to throw me out. I've got a lot to say about it. Maybe I will say it some day.
